In the last 4 years Childreach International has worked with local communities within the Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania, implementing projects and initiatives to provide resources and funding to develop further education. The need for an international office arose due to an increase in proposed projects and challenge events up Kilimanjaro. Childreach International Tanzania opened in April 2009, with its own Board of Trustees made up of members from the local community, to make decisions based on their needs. Currently 4 members of staff are employed managing the charity's relationships within communities, sourcing projects, budgeting and funding ongoing programmes, ultimately creating a foundation and base for our work in East Africa.
