Depart London Heathrow (p.m) for an overnight flight. Arrive in Delhi, transfer on a bus to Manali. Rest day in Manali & a chance to visit local temples & monasteries. The cycling begins! Cycle Manali to Mahri (36km) through steep & windy roads. This part of the journey will take around 6-8hrs. An uphill ride from Mahri to Chattru is challenging and muddy, but rewarding when you get to the top of Rohtang pass (4550m) to be welcomed by panoramic views of the surrounding snow-capped peaks. Chattru to Batal. From Batal to Losar, you will begin to notice the dramatic change to the Tibetan culture. Losar to Rangrik. After a long ride so far, you will finally get the chance to rest for the day to beat the saddle sores, visiting the infamous Kee monastery. Overnight camping. Rangrik to Tabo. Today will be the toughest day as you will spend over 5 hours cycling uphill from Tabo to Nako. Overnight in a guest house Nako to Kalpa. Kapla to Sarahan. You will join the National Highway 22 as you begin your ride from Sarahan to Narkanda. The final day. Narkanda to Shimla, spending the evening celebrating in true Indian style! Rest day in Shimla, spending the night in a hotel. Today you will catch the world famous UNESCO toy train from Shimla to Kalka, and then onwards to Delhi by train. Return to UK/Independent travelling time. (You are welcome to extend your stay after your challenge to take in the sights and sounds of India) |
