Read Yangrima's pupil's inspiring reports below, written by their teachers. They show just how important it is that teachers at the school are able to continue supporting the children.

Chhewang Sonam Lama

"Chhewang Sonam returned to Sermathang from Kathmandu in April 2009 following Yangrima School’s renovation.  Now, at Yangrima, he’s been receiving extra support to explore his sports skills, excelling in football as one of the top players. Chhewang has even introduced his own school initiatives - “THOUGHT FOR THE DAY” and “MORNING SPEECH”.

Chhewang gets involved in almost every extra curriculum activity and has worked hard to do well in them. He’s entered the House wise Spelling Competition, Hand writing Competition, Football Competition and Drawing Competition. His handwriting was a model for other students and later, every student started to copy his style. He is an excellent pupil and role model."

Pema Lama

"Pema is an incredibly hardworking, intelligent and honest girl of class 1. Her school performance is always a high standard. She is one of the student who had progressed a lot. But it hasn’t always been like this.

Before joining Yangrima School she used to study in a government School where she could hardly even read and write. Now, she is a strong writer and has improved her English skills. She even studies during her five KM trek to school each day. She took part in ECA (Extra Curriculum Activities) and had won a prize in drawing competition (3rd Position) among the whole school students. She wants to be an educated farmer with modern farming system to support her family and community."

Phurpa Lama

"Phrupa is  a good team player, very punctual (despite his two hour walk to the school) and hardworking. Before joining Yangrima school, he was in government school and rarely attended. But now he said: “I like to come to school to play, to do new things and also to study”. He is a good controller and ruler as chosen class Captain (Monitor). He is the eldest among his brothers and sisters and wants to set a good example for his family by studying hard."

Dolma Lama

"Previously, Dolma’s English skills were so poor that she dropped down to grade 4. In just 3 months, she has turned this around and made such an amazing improvement. She’s top of her class and is now  school captain, co-ordinating school assemblies and school competitions too. Dolma is a logical student who concentrates hard on her studies. Dolma has set a great example at the school. Her determination, curiosity and hard work has helped her achieve."
