Salu’s mother got involved and joined the workshop too, finding out how best to take care of her child. She told AWIH that before the workshop, she locked her child in a room and neglected her.

But this has all changed now.

“I take good care of her. I never lock her away anymore. I take her to the temple every morning and for many walks.”

Since joining AWIH’s workshop, Salu has become visibly more active and happy.

“We’ve even taught her to walk with her legs and not with her knees as she'd been doing previously .”
