Project Partner: Mahila Action Samity (MA) Location: Slum areas of Viskahaptanam, Andhra Pradesh, South West India Working with: 40 children
Mahila Action Samity provides education to child labourers and those who've dropped out of school, providing awareness on trafficking, abuse and exploitation.
In particular, the girl child face numerous problems within Viskahaptanam's large urban slum. MA is offering vocational training to girls, offering them an education which can help them find work.
Our partner has assessed the local problems and is effectively addressing the needs of different age groups. For 8-15 year olds, MA provides literacy classes and extra educational support to those who've dropped out of formal schooling.
While for many 13-19 year olds, formal schooling is no longer an option, so MA provides an alternative helping young women find work.
By supporting these children at an early age, MA is ensuring children grow up with the opportunity to unlock their full potential.
