2011: A year of awards for Childreach International![]() Our student fundraising managers pick up an award for best fundraising team Tweet 08/21/2011 2011 has been a fantastic year for Childreach International. Not only were we nominated for four national awards, winning two of them, but our project partners were also recognised for their huge achievements. Childreach International’s Challenge Event Team walked away with two awards - "Best Fundraising Team" at the Institute of Fundraising National Awards and for the same accolade at the prestigious Third Sector Charity Awards. The award comes after the team completed their first year as Student Fundraising Managers (SFM) for the charity. With an average combined age of just 22, the young team, made up of Ashley Farrell, Sam Mason, Rachel McClenaghan and Paul Doubleday, run Childreach International’s flagship Challenge Events to students across UK. Upon hearing the fantastic news Paul Doubleday, SFM said: “We are so pleased to be nominated for this award. It’s been a real team effort and we are lucky to work with fantastic fundraisers up and down the country. A big thank you to everyone who has given their time and effort to raise money for such a worthwhile cause.” On the National Awards 2011, Geoff Burch comments: The same Challenge Event team received a further nomination at the Times Charity Award, where Childreach International was also up for “Best Place to Work”. Funds raised from Challenge Events are supporting projects that have helped over 70,000 children improve their access to health, education, child rights and protection. But it’s not only the fundraisers who have been making headlines this year. Earlier this year, two of Childreach International's project partners were recognised in the UN Millennium Campaign's 'Women Make It Happen Awards'. Parul Sheth, who in 1993 established Shaishav, which runs the Balsena initiative was awarded ''Recognition for an Outstanding Organisation Supporting MDG Achievement'. Punam Toppo, whose journey to working for the Association of Social and Human Awareness was featured on our website for International Women's Day, was awarded 'Most Inspiring Story'. These awards are recognition of the amazing work carried out by these two women, who through their efforts have helped the lives of countless people. Let’s hope 2012 brings as much success and progress as 2011. Read Punam's story here or find out more about Parul. |
