His active and inclusive fundraising model - Challenge Events - raised over £1.3 million in 2009 and is set to raise over two million pounds in 2010. "I'm hugely grateful for this award. Challenge Events provide a fun way for young people to get involved with the charity. A fantastic week Earlier this week, Childreach International won the “Best Overseas Project” award at the prestigious Business Charity Awards for its Futurebuilding programme. Our incredible fundraising team scooped up the award along with our partner Eaga PLC, last night at the award ceremony in central London. A fantastic achievement for the team This fantastic achievement is testament to Childreach International and Eaga’s relentless hard work over the past two years. The successful partnership worked together alongside local communities in Tanzania, re-building Schools, as part of our Futurebuilding programme. Ranjeet Shehmar, our head of Corporate and Community Partnerships (pictured left accepting the award), Kate Wolfenden and Richard Snook, our Corporate and Community Partnership Managers, attended the event to receive our well deserved award, which saw us up against tough competition from Plan UK and Turner Broadcasting. “A great night was had by all. We were thrilled to be shortlisted for the award let alone win so this has been a great success. Our hard work has been recognised and we look forward to more successful partnerships in the future”. -Ranjeet Shehmar, Head of Corporate and Community, Childreach International It’s been a great year for Childreach International and thanks to Ranjeet and the teams’ fundraising initiatives like Futurebuilding, thousands of pounds has been raised for children around the world, improving their access to education and health care. Reaching out to more children across the world The money raised has meant Childreach International is reaching out to more children around the world, providing access to improved health care, education and human rights. In the past two years, demand for our projects at the grassroots level has witnessed the opening of offices in Tanzania, Ghana, Nepal, Pakistan and Tanzania. These rapid developments mean our partners and the communities we work with have the support of staff on the ground, ensuring our development programmes are more efficient, effective and better implemented. Stateside Due to David’s drive and passion for fundraising, Challenge Events are venturing to the USA and will begin in 2011. David’s relentless hard work, sheer ambition and dedication to the Childreach International's mission has been a driving force behind these developments. Thank you David and the Childreach International team would like to thank all our supporters who made this possible. The success of Challenge Events is attributed to all those who have given up their time and money to help children around the world unlock their full potential. |
