Childreach International has won the “Best Overseas Project” award at the prestigious Business Charity Awards for its Futurebuilding programme. Our incredible fundraising team scooped up the award along with our partner Eaga PLC, last night at the award ceremony in central London.

A fantastic achievement for the team

This fantastic achievement is testament to Childreach International and Eaga’s relentless hard work over the past two years. The successful partnership worked together alongside local communities in Tanzania, re-building Schools, as part of our Futurebuilding programme.

Ranjeet Shehmar, our head of Corporate and Community Partnerships (pictured left accepting the award), Kate Wolfenden and Richard Snook, our Corporate and Community Partnership Managers, attended the event to receive our well deserved award, which saw us up against tough competition from Plan UK and Turner Broadcasting.

It’s been a great year for Childreach International and thanks to Ranjeet and the teams’ fundraising initiatives like Futurebuilding, thousands of pounds has been raised for children around the world, improving their access to education and health care.

Futurebuilding

Throughout 2009 the Futurebuilding initiative, designed by Childreach International, sent Eaga volunteers (pictured left) out to Tanzania as part of our “School Improvements Programme”. The programme runs projects in rural areas where schools are dilapidated and un-fit for purpose. Childreach International, Eaga PLC and the local communities worked together to renovate the schools and provide children with new learning areas, better sanitation and fun playgrounds.

A pioneering partnership

This award was only possible with the support from our corporate partners, Eaga PLC.

Fundraiser of the year

With one award in the bag, Childreach International is eagerly awaiting the announcement of the next award results for Best Up and Coming Fundraiser at the 2010 Institute of Fundraising National Awards.
David Milton, our Director of Fundraising, has been shortlisted for the award, celebrating his dynamic Challenge Event fundraising model, which raised over 1.3 million pounds last year and looks to raise over two million pounds this year. Fingers crossed for more success.
