‘It is a privilege to be an ambassador for Childreach Nepal who are doing valuable work with Nepal’s children. Thank you to all those who’ve supported Childreach International by attending one of my concerts in the UK,’ says Raju Lama, who performed at two well-received concerts in Ashford and Aldershot last week. Over £200 was raised on the night, enough to buy 10 vital First Aid Kits for schools in rural Nepal. Critical time Besides initial care for minor injuries, First Aid Kits have the potential to save children’s lives, especially in Nepal’s mountainous areas, where reaching a doctor or hospital can take days of travelling. In emergencies, effective first aid can buy the children critical time until they can reach professional medical care. ‘The First Aid Kits are distributed with training about health and hygiene to ensure that children benefit from this initiative in the future too. This will go in long way in allowing them to unlock their full potential in life,’ says Childreach Nepal Country Director Tshering Lama. Building relations Among the audience was the Nepalese Ambassador, who discussed our in-country project work with our Nepalese Country Director and our Director of Operations, building positive relations between Childreach International and the Nepalese authorities. Miss Nepal Beauty queen, Nabina Gurung (Miss Nepal UK 2010), was also present. Along with Raju Lama, Miss Gurung is looking to become an ambassador for Childreach Nepal, raising our profile within Nepal and the UK, and spreading the word about our projects and the incredible children we work with. We want to reach out to more rural schools with more first aid kits. Help us to achieve this by giving. Find out more about Childreach Nepal. |
