Sage Futurebuilding Update Print E-mail

Childreach International’s Futurebuilding programme has worked in partnership with UK-based business software supplier Sage, travelling to the Sinhupalchok district of Nepal and participating in the “School Improvements Programme”.

In partnership with Childreach International’s “School Improvements Programme,” Sage has funded renovation work to Yangrima School in the village of Sermathang, which was forced to close in 2001 due to civil war.  The funding provided by Childreach International and Sage allowed Yangrima School to re-open on April 14th 2009, enabling over seventy children to enrol and start lessons once more.

Sage’s determination to finish the school renovation saw them send out seventeen volunteers to complete project work necessary for the school to function at its optimum level.

On the 5th November 2009, Sage volunteers travelled to Yangrima School, assisting the local communities in the repair of ten classrooms and a dining hall, and the construction of a playground.  The renovation work was completed by volunteers on the 15th November 2009.  Sage volunteers undertook tasks such as plastering, painting, mixing concrete, laying bricks, and making swings. The renovation of Yangrima School through the School Improvements Programme has provided long term sustainability to a vulnerable institution with the aim to educate 500 children by 2014.
