Under the guidance of the Futurebuilding programme, eaga volunteers are continuing the “School Improvements Programme” in the Moshi district, working at the Nkosangana and Mrupanga Schools which still require crucial renovation work to their facilities. The eaga volunteers flew to Tanzania on the 22nd October 2009 and will complete work by the 13th December 2009. Nkosangana School requires critical work to its school buildings including structural support to six classrooms, the completion of the teacher’s accommodation block and the repair and painting of all existing external walls. Mrupanga School requires similar work, including the renovation of seven classrooms, the completion of a dining hall, kitchen and store room, and the construction of a small playground and parameter fence.

In fulfilling these tasks, eaga’s individual volunteers will be taken out of their comfort zones and fully immersed into community life, directly interacting with the children they are helping. By working at a grassroots level, they will be exposed to both the realities of poverty and the resilience of those impoverished. The lasting result will be the empowerment of the children in the communities through the provision of safer educational services. eaga’s promise of support for three years to the “School Improvement Programme” has demonstrated their resolute commitment to the cause, providing the Futurebuilding programme with proactive people who will make a dramatic contribution to sustainable education within the Kilimanjaro district. |
