The strategic partnership between Childreach International and the SMILE foundation, a leading non-governmental organisation based in India, reaches out to 100,000 under-privileged children and youths across twenty one Indian states, doing so with exceptional results. Our common vision, to empower the next generation of children through education, is realised through seven projects which function as part of the innovative SMILE Education programme.
In a country where social and economic hardships are rife, and 18 million children live on the streets, SMILE Education is tackling the issues which stunt children’s ability to learn, progress, and earn a sustainable livelihood.
Action for Autism is one of SMILE Education’s most forward thinking projects. Specializing in children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, the Delhi based project provides speech therapy via Verbal Behaviour Analysis Units (VBA). This allows severely disabled children to learn intellectually, physically and socially. Group activities and individual sessions provide an innovative and structured curriculum to children who have a disability that is commonly misunderstood and consequently ill serviced.
The pioneering and far reaching projects operated by Childreach International and SMILE are providing sustainable education to children who are often rejected or have difficulty participating in mainstream educational services. Your ongoing support will enable the groundbreaking partnership with the SMILE Foundation to continue, ensuring India’s poorest children are given greater preparation, opportunity, and most if all hope for the future.
