Childreach is Growing Print E-mail

In April 2009, Childreach International (CRI) proudly opened its Tanzanian office, Childreach International Tanzania (CRITz). This exciting development was closely followed by the inauguration of the Ghanaian office in June, as Childreach International and the Community Centre for Sustainable Development (CCSD) merged to create Childreach International Ghana (CRIGh). The successful launch of both registered charities will dramatically extend the existing reach of Childreach International’s work, significantly increasing the effectiveness of our fundraising programmes and sustainable development initiatives to provide essential support to children in disadvantaged communities.

The exciting opening of our first international offices has furthered CRI’s commitment to working directly with local communities; ensuring projects reflect their most vital needs. Within each office, a Board of Trustees sourced from the local population has guaranteed that this principle is upheld, while making certain that CRITz and CRIGh maintain a full knowledge of the local areas and their cultural and social conditions. The projects, hand selected by all Africa office staff, are then monitored and evaluated by project staff, providing reliable first hand reports regarding their effectiveness. The lasting impact of this proficient approach will see CRITz’s and CRIGh’s programmes managed, led, and sustained by the local communities as they contribute to achievable sustainable development.

Establishing the offices in Africa has enhanced Childreach International’s ability to manage the increasing number of projects and Challenge Events taking place within Tanzania and Ghana; projects which dramatically improve the lives of future generations. Moreover, CRITz and CRIGh are working together on projects, sharing important skills and lessons to truly enhance Childreach International’s African network. The Africa offices symbolise the extensive strides made by Childreach International since its launch in 2003, demonstrating a rapid growth which has advanced the effectiveness of its work toward sustainable development and increased the number of children breaking free from the restraints of poverty.
