Dashing to Dublin for charity Print E-mail

untitledgyntynStudents across the UK hitch hiked their way to Dublin to raise vital funds for Childreach International.  On 17th March, 30 volunteers took part in the Dublin Dash – one of Childreach International’s Challenge Events – journeying by whatever means necessary to make sure they reached the Southern Ireland capital in time for St Patrick’s Day.

And the winners were: Simran, Nikita and Sophie; three students from Nottingham University who reached the city in just five hours. The trio even managed to hitch hike a free ferry ride from Wales to Ireland.

Coming in a commendable second place were three students from Nottingham Trent University  who managed to attain a free taxi ride from Nottingham to Derby, and three trains from Derby to the Welsh coast.

Upon their arrival in Dublin our volunteers celebrated the work of Childreach International as well as the success of their fundraising efforts which saw them raise rover £5,000 for the charity.

The money raised will contribute towards Childreach International’s grassroots development projects and help continue our rapid expansion which has allowed the opening of three new international offices over the past six months.
