eesha koppikhar3A host of Bollywood celebrities including Yana Gupta and Rahul Khanna, as well as corporate giants will converge at a glittering event hosted by Childreach International India in Mumbai on Friday, November 19th, in aid of Universal Children’s Day.

The Bollywood bash, that will see performances by Bollywood stars along with a gala dinner, will be the culmination of weeklong celebrations that started on November 14, also celebrated as Children’s Day in India.

Universal Children’s Day was first established in 1954 when the UN General Assembly recommended that all countries institute a Universal Children's Day to promote the ideals and objectives of the charter on the Rights of the Child.

This week, Childreach International India announced a partnership with celebrity choreographer Sandip Soparrkar and his model wife Jesse Randhawa, who have pledged to raise awareness about issues concerning children in India.

“I support and promote Childreach International as they invest in building stronger children by unlocking their full potential” says Jesse Randhawa.

This comes soon after Bollywood star Eesha Koppikar (pictured) joined Childreach International India as a brand ambassador.

"I have always wanted to do something for the children of our country. In India, we see a lot of issues like female foeticide. As a woman, helping to raise awareness of these issues is a great opportunity for me," says Eesha on her partnership with Childreach International India.

At the Bollywood event, celebrities and corporate sponsors will hand over the annual grant to grassroots representatives of five projects that Childreach International India supports. Ace photographer Martin Pirhoda, who has worked with Vogue magazine, will hold an exhibition of photographs taken during his visits to Childreach International projects in India. This exhibition will enable friends and guests of Childreach International to see for themselves the projects we support.

Apart from raising awareness of Universal Children’s day, this high-profile event is also aimed at spreading awareness of the concept of Individual Social Responsibility, where individuals pledge to take responsibility towards creating a world where every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential in life.
