Futurebuilding

Overseas community development projects

An introduction to Futurebuilding

A volunteer helps build a water pump in Tanzania

There are many ways in which you can make a difference in the lives of children around the world, whether you are fundraising here in the UK or taking part in an overseas challenge event. For those of you who want to go one step further, Childreach International offers its supporters our Futurebuilding scheme; an award winning, hands on experience that will see you travel to one of our project sites abroad and get involved in the actual building or reconstruction of anything from a school classroom to a village water pump.

Futurebuilding is an active and unique way of helping children in the developing world, where during a once-in-a-lifetime experience you will play an invaluable part in the development of the project site's community, seeing first hand the incredible benefits your hard work helps to achieve.

So if you and your friends or collegues are looking for a challenging and rewarding way of becoming involved in community development projects overseas, then sign up to Futurebuilding with Childreach International.

Why choose Futurebuilding?

As an international volunteering project, Futurebuilding is innovative and flexible, allowing us to tailor it around you or your organisation. As such, we offer our Futurebuilding scheme to corporate partners, students, groups of friends and individuals. We always plan our Futurebuilding schemes in a way where everyone can get involved, from more labour-intensive activities to lighter, but equally important work such as plastering or painting.
A vital part of the scheme is making sure that all the work carried out is done so in partnership with the local communty - a process central to the Childreach International mission. This not only benefits the community, but also means that skilled local labour is on hand to tackle any tricky parts of the project. As long as you are reasonably fit and up for an exciting and rewarding challenge, then Futurebuilding is for you.

A detailed

breakdown

When and where are the projects happening?

Our projects normally last 10 days, this is to ensure the community gets the most out of us whilst we are there. We have projects taking place all year round in several different countries.

How much does it cost?

We ask that everyone who registers to take part in a Futurebuilding project make an initial non-refundable registration fee of £260. This is to secure a place. Once you have registered you will need to raise a minimum of £2450 six weeks prior to departure.

This is all part of the challenge and we have had thousands of people who have successfully met this target, and some have even raised double that amount! Often you will have a volunteer group leader, who help you fundraise, while our Corporate and Community Fundraising Managers will support you every step of the way.

Part of the money you raise will be used to pay for the costs of your chosen project and the remaining amount will be used to ensure that Childreach International can continue to support thousands of children worldwide, improving their access to health care, education and child rights.
